Research & Development YIT has started its functioning in 2003. Since its inception the institute gives emphasis on research & development in its respective departments. In civil engineering department has undertaken the work of consultancy in some of the projects, for example they have provided consultancy on Quality Management of Cement Concrete Construction. The faculty of the department does individual research also. One of the sr. faculty members has contributed a paper entitled National Seminar on Integrated Water Management and Sustainable Water Pricing (IWMSWP-2008). Mr. Sanjeev Sipani, faculty member has also published book on Engineering Mechanics for I-Year B.Tech. Students. Prof. P.S. Gahlot who is the incharge of the consultancy activities has also written the following books:

1.Civil Engineering Materials
2. Applied Mechanics
3. Construction Planning and Management
4. Strength of Materials (in Hindi)
5. Building Repair and Maintenance Management.
6. Quality Management of Cement Concrete Construction.

The electronics department has set up Matlab unit comprising of latest computers. This unit is also active in research & training activities. Computer Science department is also well equipped for training & research activities. The other engineering departments mainly mechanical engineering and electrical engineering are also in the process of developing research & consultancy.

The Science department also have highly research oriented faculty. Almost all the persons have engaged in individual and collaborated research. Prof. V.P. Saxena (Principal) is guiding Ph.D. Scholars and published number of books and research papers. During tenure at YIT, his latest book published is The I-Function. Dr. Shilpi Saxena participated and presented paper in the conference 3-D fluid flow & heat through a porous medium of very small permeability. The Book on Engineering Physics for B.Tech. I-Year students has been published by Mr. Dinesh Chandra Sharma, Asstt. Prof. in Physics. Dr. R.K. Sharma, Asstt. Prof. in Chemistry has also written following books:

1. Engineering Chemistry
2. Environmental Engineering
3. Practical Engineering Chemistry
4. Practical Environmental Engineering
